Quick reference guide for rock hounds to identify and learn about the rocks, gems, and minerals that they are looking to collect. Designed for easy use and fast response without information overload.

This App gives you information and pictures of the most common types of samples collected, such as Garnets, Agates, Geodes. It is not cluttered with information about samples that rock hounds are not interested in. Who is looking for Allanite or Manganbabingtonite?

Features of this App:
- View information and pictures of the most common collected rocks, gems, and minerals.

- Search by name and information to narrow your results to view.

- Add your own using pictures from your Photo Library. Enter name and description of your new addition and assign pictures from your Photo Library for the Icon and Pics pages. Once the pics are added from your Photo Library, they can be deleted, as the picture information is stored in the App.

- Tips section gives information about collecting as well as App specific information.

- Gallery section gives you the ability to showcase just the rocks you have. Organized by their pictures and sorted by their Name, Type, or Rating. Share them to others or save to your Photo Library.

- No internet connection needed. All data stored locally, so it is still usable in locations that may not be out of network range.

- No Ads or in-App purchases. Nothing else to buy.

If you have an iPhone, you may be interested in the app "RockHound", which contains GPS data of collection sites and what you will find there, along with this module for identification. The RockHound app will not work on the iPod Touch, since the GPS data is critical for its use.

Pros and cons of Rocks & Gems app for iPhone and iPad

Rocks & Gems app good for

This is a great app for anyone who has a hobby in rocks and minerals, i wouldnt mind adding a bit more info. in the bios of the minerals but overall very nice.
Im 8 years old and I love to collect rocks. Number 1 app ever. Buy It Now!!!
You people are too picky.Who cares if there isnt any HD pics!Theyre freaking rocks, man!Anyway,I am also 8-like the first comment, and this app is awesome!I am deciding to be a geologist when I get older,I am going to be a geologist, and I am going to have to have quite a lot of practice!

Some bad moments

So mad!!!!!! This app stinks........ it dosnt have limestone, and granate... Dosnt anyone know its a rock??? DONT BUY THIS APP it stinks, and besids, why waste your money on a piece of junk.
Disapointing, they only show you a few more stones then the preview page shows you. I would never again buy anything from this company. What a waist of money. Also the add says it features GARNET but nope nowhere to be found on this list. Very disapointing to say the least....... The pictures of the stones they do have are fine its just the fact that they only have maybe 20 stones alltogether... Dont waist your money!!!!!
There isnt a lot of rocks and gems in the library. Not a lot of information on the rocks and gems as well. The picture are not that good quality either. Should be a free app.
Ok. These pictures are horrible. Would someone please make a good HD pictures and information gallery for mineral enthusiuants like myself. This app wont even update for better quality pics. Limited selection too. No good.
Incomplete. I was hoping that I would be using this app as a field guide. I was wrong. This app is for the extreme beginner. Hopefully they will be adding much much more. For the price, this should be a free app.
Not even worth a dollar, very limited information, poor quality Information. Here is an actual quote from the App, “Iron is the most abundant element in the planet you on, and iron is at the heart of civilization, too". Ha ha seriously.
